GM works to pave the way for plug-in vehicles

Plug-in hybrids and extended range electric vehicles will soon be on the road in large numbers, and GM and Saturn will play a big role in the introduction of this new technology.

In preparation for these "electrified" vehicles, GM is partnering with an electric utilites group to make sure that everything from codes and standards to grid capability is ready for such revolutionary vehicles as the Saturn Vue Plug-in Hybrid and the Chevrolet Volt.

You can read the press release for full details.

ATTN GM & SATURN: As an electrical engineer, astrophysicist & car enthusiast, I've been following GM's/Saturn's highly-commendable headlong dive into automotive electrification with great interest and anticipation! The Chevy Volt & Saturn Vue plug-ins are GREAT first products. Next, offer the Volt (or Vue) drive train in the Saturn SKY and you'll have a car in the Tesla class ($100,000+) at HALF that price, which won't be range-limited like the Tesla!

An E-REV or 2 Mode plug-in SKY would be an instant "SKYRocket" in terms of sales!!!
